If you had 1,000 for a gaming tower

What parts list would you have? I'm gonna bump up my price limit if I can sell all these laptop parts.

I need a full new setup, but I think the tower was around 1,000 and everything together (Windows 7, Keyboard, Mouse, monitor) is 1,284 on PCPARTPICKER, but 1,389 without the discounts.

 

I went with;

CPU: i5 3750k

GPU: HIS 7870

PSU: Seasonic 750w

HDD: WD Blue 1Tb

Cooler: Hyper 212 Evo

Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V LE PLUS

Case: Cooler Master HAF 922

Optical drive: Lite on iHAS124

Drop the i5, get an FX-6300, and with the money get a 7970/ 7950 depending on the price.

Looks pretty good, only I think you're spending too much on the PSU. I know it's gold and all, but still. Maybe consider this, or this, or even this.

I would say stick with seasonic but perhaps look at a 600 - 650w version instead, still gold. Quick look shows they have a 650w gold / modular unit for $179 from my go-to (Australian) store.
