If i wanted to save money on a build what older cpu should i use?

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/BQhK

I was going to drop the monitor off the list and the SSD as well inorder to save. I was wondering what cpu could i get that still runs games wellbut costs less than the fx-8350 while still using the AM3+ socket. I wanted to keep the mobo and the psu for sure so i have a solid base to build on everything else could be swapped out. My other concern would be that i dont want a cpu that would be bottlenecked by the gpu if that is possible while staying lower priced. I already have the fractal design define R4 for the case.

You posted the worng link, but if you want to save money and spend less than the 8350 get the 8320 or the 6300, and if you want a little extra performance just OC them.

Oh and all of these processors wont bottleneck any single graphics card in this Gen.

Are those processors as low as i can go without bottlenecking? I was wondering about the phenoms.

It wouldn't bottleneck per se, but you would see a noticable difference in fps between something like an 8350.

Which processor?

All of the Phenom series.

I was thinking of the Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition.

the 955 is about 10 bucks cheaper on average than the 965 but overclocks to around the same amounts. Both solid choices for a budget build that still needs some oopmh

-_-

That's the definition of a bottleneck. Stop your wishful thinking.

The lowest performance CPU I would recommend is the FX-6300. If you can't afford it, then just save some cash for a little longer. It's only a difference of $25. If you have a job that shouldn't be hard to come by, and if you don't then go do some chores for your parents or something. It doesn't make sense to buy the old Phenom II's anymore. You could probably find the extra cash in a couch or something.

Actually after i made that post i put a build together with a phenom and noticed i had around 30 bones left so i made this one. After posing this on r/buildapc someone recommended this build with an fx 8350. What do you think about that build i wanted to use a gold certified psu so it would last longer but i could see the merit of getting the higher end cpu as well.

I would go with the 8350 build. The Gold PSU isn't necessarily going to last longer anyway. The gold rating just means it's going to be more efficient, which means you'll be saving some power. You'll get much better performance out of that 8350 build.

you can use the 955 or 965 without bottlenecking

same with the 4300

You could use a 650watt PSU if you really wanted to save some more money, i have an old 955 and its not bad but compared to the processors today it doesent fair to well and with anything over a 7850 OC/7870 youll see it start to bottleneck.

Id suggest an FX6300 or Above

A guy on reddit suggested a build with an fx-8350(which is the cpu i really wanted) with a lower end psu well not really lower end just not gold certed. I'm think thats my go to build if i have around 800 dollars.

Only in CPU intensive games such as Skyrim will have a bottleneck but he has a aftermarket cooler so OCed he won't. Also that's not the definition for a bottleneck for example if he was to put a 7950 in he would notice a pretty big drop in frames compared to his 7970. The 8350 will have increased fps in games but this doesn't mean the phenom will bottleneck.

Only in CPU intensive games such as Skyrim

complete fallacy

Skyrim isnt CPU intensive at all, its just that Bethesda cant write a game engine to save their life and it only uses 2 cores and focuses heavily on x87 instructions

Yes I have seen my fair few of "game breaking" bugs in Bethesda's notoriously bad engines. Although even if due to bad coding it still uses a fair chunk of your cpu.
