I7 870: Do a build, or sell it?

So essentially the project that I WAS going to do isn't going to happen after all (Taking an Optiplex 980 and making it a gaming box) and now I have a rather nice i7 that turbo's to 3.62 and hyperthreading and all that jazz.

So now I have to think "Should I just get a new mobo? Or should I get an optiplex mobo?"

Now obviously zen is coming out soon. I'm excited, everyone is. So with that being said I think of selling it. But in selling it I can only get, what, 90 bucks minimum compared to other sales prices? 135 average? Well ok thats actually pretty ok. But my only need right now is a boost in performance; more threads, variable clock, better OC, better TDP. This i7 fits the bill pretty well. But again..... Zen. That and I want a 9370/8370 build for experimentation at this point.

So, what do I do with it.

Sell it.

It is even older than the E5 2670s that are far more powerful, newer and cheaper.

Sell it if it's worth anything.
First gen i7s for the mainstream platform were pretty bad.

870 to 2600k was huge haha

Not worth it. Sell the chip to someone who wants a facebook machine. The move from Nehalem to Sandy Bridge just destroyed its worth.
