One thing to consider is does the OP want to ever overclock. Your basically locking him out of that option with that chip. It is a great chip but he is probably getting the K SKU for a reason.
i was just throwing in options dude, thats i why i mentioned about the chip being locked. :)
im using a 1231 xeon right now and you can oc, just not pass turbo, which is 3.8 iirc.
i also have mine at 3.8 :)
