So for the past few months I was using the hyper 212+ to cool the 4790k as stock clock and voltage. I just switched to the h100i from corsair and now I get a max load cpu temp of about 75 degrees c. With my old 212+ I got a max of 45 degrees c under load. Is this normal for the h100i?
Is the cooler making weird sounds? grinding, clicking, etc. Have you tried reapplying the thermal compound? Have you re-seated it? What is your fan configuration?
There is definitely something wrong, either it is mounted wrong, the pump isnt running properly or the fan isnt running properly.
Try re-seating the cooler. Odds are it's not seated properly or you need to reapply thermal paste.
a highend liquid cooler should not be running hotter than the 212.
I am running an H100i on a 4790K @ 4.4Ghz, getting about 30-40C at idle (depending on the room temperature) and around 60C at full gaming load. I tried Prime95 and learned that Haswell does NOT like that program (95C), so I ran OCCT instead and got somewhere around 65C max.
From what I read online this is pretty normal, so what programs are you running to get these numbers? I has using Open Hardware monitor to get my values during the tests, though the benchmark program's number were the same.
probably the pump not seated correctly, this somethimes happen with those corsairs aio´s.
If it keeps heating up like crazy, then it could be an potentional faulty pump.
Do NOT use prime95 for haswell CPU's. prime does some mean stuff to artificially increase the voltage and on haswell that is a BAD thing.
I don't think that's it. I tried AIDA64 and got the cpu up to 90 degrees.
I reapplied the thermal paste with arctic silver 5 and made sure everything was installed correctly. Still got some hot-ass temps. I think you are right about the faulty pump.
Thank you everyone for the comments/help. For now I will use my old hyper 212 whilst my h100i is being replaced. I will be sure to update the thread once I get a working h100i.
Well failing pumps is indeed a common issue with Corsair Aio´s. A few batches had problems with this.
So i would not be surpriced that your pump is faulty.
