i5 4690k Overclocking problems

i went in to the bios and turned the multiplier to 40

and the voltage to 1.1V

I then used prime 95 and stressed tested the cpu for over an hour without any failure, but then the next day while just browing the web my computer crashed and i was told that my overlclock had failed.

I repeated my overclock again but this time with 1.15 volts and the same thing happend. It was stable under load but not when doing light work like browsing the internet.

My pc specs

i5 4690k

MSI z97 g55-sli

Corsair h60

Corsair TX650

MSI gtx 770

8gb corsair ddr3 1600mhz ram

most likely you need to add more voltage, but how much idk. just bump up the voltage by 0.1V every time and try untill your system runs stable.

It looks to me that the Z97-G55 Sli is pretty similar to the Gaming 5 in terms of power delivery and bios, so maybe you could dig arround on the net for an OC tutorial on the Z97 gaming 5, and try those settings on your board.

I found the problem

the motherboard bios needed to bet updated from v1.0 to v1.4

After updating it i have been getting stable overclocks
