i5 4690K gaming rig build help

It's come to the point where I need an upgrade.
I bought a general desktop for £300 a few years ago and have upgraded it up to now using the items listed below.

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/4kvT99
RAM HyperX Blu DDR3 1333MHz 8GB x2
CPU Intel Core i3-550 3.2GHz
GPU Asus GeForce GTX 660 Ti OC 2GB
Power Supply OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W
OS Windows 8 Pro 64-bit

I have a few sata hard drives for storing different types of data too...
2 x 2TB 1x640GB 1x 500GB
Its getting pretty hot in this tiny box!

Below are the items I am currently looking at to make a new system.
Suggested upgrade parts... http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/ygRQ99

Case Corsair 750D
Motherboard Asus Z87-Pro ATX LGA1150
RAM Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR3 1600MHz
CPU Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz
CPU Cooler Corsair H110 Liquid CPU Cooler

I'll be using the graphics card, SSD and two of the hard drives in the new build.
I'm quite happy with the ram, cpu/cooler and case choices but I'm struggling on what motherboard to get. I'd like to stick with asus but not sure which will be the best asus motherboard for gaming with the config above. If watched all the asus videos and searched the web but I am still noen the wiser!
Any help would be appreciated and suggestions for replacements too.

Thanks teksyndicate community!

looks good but at any rate i would want to upgrade the gpu but other wise looks good, i personally wouldn't liquid cool a 4690k but that is me if you want to do it, more power to you and you can recycle that cooler when you get a better CPU.

in that case the next thing you should look to upgrade is your GPU

Thanks Cody_Keys. GPU will be the next upgrade, maybe christmas time for that though. The price difference for the z97 is £3. Is there any reason not buy that board instead or is there a better board i can get for around £150 ($230)? Thanks again!

whether to get a z97 or not is mainly on if you plan to overclock, if you do the the z97 chipset will help you out on that. im currently using the asus z97-p and it was on sale so if you can sway the z97 go ahead if not, it wont hurt anything

Let me know if you need a 4690k cpu, I have one that I only used for a few weeks, it does 4.7ghz @ 1.300volts. I'd let it go for about $200 USD

Build looks good to me.
The only thing i would personaly recommend, is pickup a Z97 motherboard.
Z87 will need a bios update to fully support the 4690k.
Basicly Asus has the feuture to update the bios without a cpu installed, but im personaly not a fan of using Devils canyon cpu´s on the older Z87 chipset boards, cause somethimes it can cause some headache´s.

I would advice to look for the Z97 variant of the board you are looking for.
Or any other decent Z97 board, depending on the feutures your prefer.

If you need help with selecting a good motherboard, i can give you some good advice, but then i would like to know, which specific feutures you would like to have on your motherboard.

Thank you all for your help, it was very useful.

I'm still slightly confused as to what software to use between corsair link, aisuite and gpu tweak. There are serious compatibility issues to use certain programs to control certain hardware.
What are your go to programs for monitoring/overclocking?
