I'm gonna buy a I5-3570k and really want to OC it since I'll be playing some games that are more CPU intensive. I'm gonna be cooling it with a Corsair H70 closed loop water cooler. How much should I overclock it to get a stable speed? 5ghz?
with an H70, id say around 4.6-4.7 depends on how much voltage you need and how the Motherboard handels the OC
Sounds good, know any good mobo's? I've been looking for one that's sub $150 and can run SLI or Crossfire at 16x on both PCI-E slots.
Your not going to find one, theyll run PCI-E 3.0 at x8 which is the equivalent of 2.0 x16, Personally im a fan of the gigabyte boards, as they arent focused on being full of "features" and gimmicks, they put a lot of what you pay into the durablity and overall construction of the board, are you buy in the states or somewhere else ?
In the states.

Really Solid OC board, i have one and its fantastic, heres a long review about its features and OC capabilites in depth

Seem's like a really solid board, I'm really liking what the review say's. In the benchmarks, I think I found the perfect mobo! You've really helped out a lot, thank you! <3
I think I've finalized my build.
CPU: I5-3570k
GPU: Gigabyte 7950 (Gonna OC this)
Mobo: Z77X-UD3H
RAM: G-Skill RipJaws 1600 mhz (2x4gb)
HD: Seagate Momentus XT 500GB
PSU: Corsair CX600 Modular PSU
Case: ? Undecided
If you can grab an R4, im running pretty much what you have minus the storage (whay a momentus XT ?) and PSU, and the R4 was nice to build in and is quiet as all hell, only gripe i have was getting the 8-Pin in but thats probably because i have big hands. so your Build looks absolutley solid!
i've got an asrock extreme 4 oc'd at 4.5 ghz with an extra .16 V and it's stable i think i haven't stress tested it. i'm using an h100 and it gets warm at 160F
I'm getting the Momentus because it has the SSD portion in it for the faster boot times. I found the XT for $70, not much more than a regular 500GB. If the price drastically goes up then I'll just get a 1TB drive. The R4 is nice but I'm gonna go as cheap as possible on the case. I'll be adding a USB 3.0 hub to it.
I'm thinking of OCing it to 4.5. Thanks for the feedback!
Grab something like a Bitfenix Merc then!
That price is definitely drawing me to it! Either this case or the Zalman Z11. Both have 4x USB 2.0 ports, that'll take advantage of the mobo's onboard. Thanks again!
