Ok so im about to buy either the i5 3570K or the i7 3770K and the MSI Z77A-G41 board. I will mostly be playing Minecraft (yes i fucking love minecraft lol) and im wondering if the 3770K will even be any better for my purpose and if so, is the extra money worth it? Also i will most likely not be OCing, will the stock cooler be ok? I dont want the cooler to be loud and annoying.
Even on really heavy duty games, the i7 3770k, doesn't reach the same price/performance ratio than an i5 3570k (intel's mid range champ) does.
Do you got the money and want to go for it? Sure, do it, the i7 3770k will 'get slow' later than the i5 will and it's a better processor on any way you look.
But, would I buy a i7 for a non- high end system? Not at all, I would go for a FX 8350 + 990FX mobo or the i5 3570k + Z77 mobo, all the way. The difference in games is just about 5-9 fps, and you could get 120 Fps on minecraft with a much smaller CPU.
P.S. the stock cooler will be just fine for both if not OCing (however it could get loud with the time).
ok thanks! I'll just get the i5 3570K and then stock cooler for now, and if i decide i dont like the noise ill prolly get the 212 evo. What kind of ilde temps are normal for the i5 with the stock cooler?
On stock cools and without OC, it idles between 25-35°C (depends on case / room temp), and can get after beeing on full load for a somewhat long period around 58-70 °C. It may seem high but those temps are perfectly fine, Intel made the CPU be able to handle temps of 80°C without taking any damage.
The Hyper 212 would make those temps drop at least by 30%
thanks!
just gaming:
i5 3570k
Other tasks to do (rendering and stuff)
FX 8350
Cheaper 5-15 FPS less, but nearly same as 3570k in rendering option, and the cores will probably come in handy for games, by games using more cores in the future:
FX 6300
For Mainly playing minecraft would you say the 8350 or 3570K?
The FX 8350 with a dedicated graphics card (even a lower end one) will max out minecraft, even if it os overloaded with mods. However, the i5 3570k will give you a higher overall performance as minecraft benefits of a performance per core situation (is not a very multi threaded game).
Ok so the I5 is prolly better for me then cause i run tons of mods and want to be running 100+ FPS
then the 3570k. It will give you more Frames per second. The FX 8350 is the ultimate solution, it competes in rendering etc. with the 3770k! But just for minecraft, the 3570k. It also does Photoshop, rendering etc. Very well.
And don't get the 3770k if you are just gaming! Waste of money.
If you are going to record your games, or stream, the cores of the FX 8350 will come in handy already! So if you lets say record your games etc. the FX 8350 will be better.:

But just gaming... get the 3570k!
just for curiosity, what Graphics card are you gonna pair this CPU with? (the one you already have)
i have a Radeon 7850 2gb OC edition from Saphire
You will rack the nether up with this build then! Just promess me you won't get greedy and keep mining near lava with an inventory full of goodies and diamonds! Go back to your home, drop the things on the chest and then keep mining!
Haha Fuck yea man! I play with mods so ill just ender pouch my stuff back while mining! :P
You better, once I got greedy and keep on stealing the rails from a deep mine, with my inventory at max while dropping the less worthy stuff, until a bunch of cave spiders made me their bitch. I stop playing for 2 weeks, just for this painful memory.
Good Luck with your build! hope everything turns ok!
cave spiders? I didn't get it.
Hey last thing before i buy it. Will my PSU (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371016) work with the i5 3570K and the MSI Z77A-G41? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130653
here is a power supply I've found on sale on newegg:

no, im not looking to buy one, that is the one i have now! will it work with that CPU Mobo and my GPU (7850 2gb from Saphire)
it will be enough. But not a second GPU. Why don't you post your whole build, so we can see what you can optimise?
