An already common question, but, after being strictly Intel, I've decided to make AMD an option for my new build. I'll be doing primarily gaming, and maybe a VERY small amount of editing in Adobe AE and Sony Vegas for school, so rendering performance doesn't matter much. What CPU would you recommend? Money is not a problem, though the 3770k is out of the question. I would absolutely be using the Asus Crosshair V Forumula mobo. I'm leaning towards the FX-8350 to save myself some a little money. Any answer would be much appreciated.
I'll be using the EVGA GeForce GTX 660ti Superclocked+ 3GB
I second this,I use to have the i5-3570k with a P8Z77 LK,I've switched it out with the FX-8350 and the Sabertooth 990FX,loving the Mobo and the CPU,extremely overclockable.
Using an H80i,4.8ghz OC,1.38volts, getting around 38~43 *C (At full load.)
Thanks for the answers guys, looks like the 8350 is for me, and @BeyondNight I Don't want, nor do I need a cpu that powerful, I'd rather get a decent cooler like the H100i.
What you said. I was about to refer to this video myself. Logan had already confirmed what I had been thinking for several months(I have been planning my build for a while). Productivity, sometimes it wins, sometimes it doesn't, but with such a slaughter in gaming, the AMD is the way to go. You can buy a 8350 and a CM 212 EVO, for as much as a 3570k alone. The EVO is such a nice cooler you can OC pretty good with it and get performance even higher.
IIRC there were a couple games in the video that the 8350 tied with the 3570k but the 8350 mostly won, and it absolutley murdered it in ArmA 2, which is a very CPU intense game due to it running unscripted AI.
