i5-3570k No OC running way too high!

Currently I'm using my i5-3570k,no overclock, when i use prime95 for the small FFT stress test, the temps shoot up to 100~105 C, can anyone help me with this?

Note: I just switched out motherboards, from an MSI Z77-G41 to an Asus P8Z77-V LK, I also applied more TIM,I used the "pea method".

Help please!

are you using the stock heatsink?

Sadly, yes. I plan on getting the Noctua D14 or something like it soon. However, before I swapped out my Mobo and TIM, I was running a 4.2 OC at 70~80 degrees C,why did it shoot up so dam much without an overclock on it?

Did you check the thermal paste?

Yes,the first time I checked it, there was too little, after I cleaned it off and added more,it was just right.

Still need help with this, can anyone suggest something or something please?

How's your case airflow? Make sure there is no increase in voltage to the cpu, it's possible this could of somehow been raised.

It's on stock voltage, case airflow is good, ambient temp is around 15~20*C, this happened ever since I replaced the mobo, when I was using the MSI z77-G41 it was running great at 4.2 OC,stock fan, stock TIM, now that I've changed the Mobo and TIM the temps are absurd.

Note: Using AS5.

That's really strange, it must the mobo's power delivery cause there's no explanation to why your cpu would just do that. Have you contacted Asus about this?

No,it was only yesterday that I switched out the board, if anything, I can probably go back to MicroCenter and switch it out.

If I were to switch it out, should I get the Asrock Extreme 4 or the MSI again, I can get the MSI for ~$40,the Asrock would be about the same price as the Asus, around $90~$100.

Is it worth getting a more expensive Mobo or should I get the MSI and spend the difference somewhere else?

Thanks in advance!

I would sugest re-applying your thermal paste, if you're not doing any OC'ing and a mobo switch is the only variable, i would just redo it just to see what happens

I've heard nothing but good reviews on MSI boards so I would go with that. Personally I'm getting a Gigabyte board because they make really good quality stuff. ASRocks are basically downgraded Asus mobo's. I've heard the build quality isn't that great on them either but it should last you.

've got it fixed, needed to reseat the CPU Cooler since it wasn't making full contact with the CPU.

I knew it was probably something along those lines.

I hope it didn't get damaged by the previous heat.

What temps is it running @ now?

Running a 3.6 OC, 50~60*C with stock cooler.
