The moment I knew about the split I felt really sad since Tek Syndicate was my go to tech channel so knowing now that Wendell is back it really makes me excited since to me the best parts of the show were his parts.
About me, I'm a Motion Graphics/3D Artist and being one I always looked critically at the way Tek Syndicate were doing its animations, intros, designs and also things like editing and color grading and more than one time I thought that if I could do that myself it would be much cooler or effective.
The problem with the tech channels on Youtube is that, honestly, the motion graphics department is always lacking I really like Linus Tech News but let's face it that intro is beyond basic and also the one from Tek Syndicate, although cooler, it could use some much needed polishing.
I always thought that being part of the team could be a great experience and I swear I was about to post about this on the forums back then as I'm doing now and so when the split got me I felt like I lost an opportunity... Well not anymore!
I know from the Youtube channel that you already have someone doing the editing that's perfect! now what about someone doing Motion Graphics?
I've managed to work as a freelancer for years but embarrassing enough I haven't been able to pull my first reel, of course it doesn't make sense to me to be talking like this if I don't at least show you some relevant work right? so I will leave here a couple of links to my work:
Cerimania, You may think that but more often than not you will find yourself in a situation where custom graphics comes in handy it's not just an intro, there are things like lower thirds, transitions along video segments, credits also there could be something more than just tech news and to make the distinction between this shows graphics are also need it.
Nice work! But whatever happened to "The Prototype" movie? I remember the trailer from quite a while back. Most that I've heard is that it's been in production hell, and has possibly been cancelled or shelved.
Actually I think you know more about it than I do haha, I remember being excited while I was doing the titles but after that I never heard of it anymore and after a few years past that I did a search and found out that it was still unreleased, such is life.
Although, honestly, what happened to The Prototype movie? Been waiting with twiddling thumbs for years now. Rumor is it's gonna be released this Christmas.
Doing it for free doesn't seem right to me neither asking full price, let me elaborate on this:
First doing something free of charge means that maybe if I do something cheap looking it will be hard for people to criticize "come on! the guys is doing it for free" sort of thing inversely if I come out with something as the result of designing and animating then maybe the team will feel bad for me putting the hard work and not receiving a compensation.
Now asking full price after saying "I'm here to help" doesn't make much sense, sure help could come in many ways but what's the difference with blatant self-promotion in this case? well one difference could be a good deal price and another good difference could be... wait I think that's it!
I know that you asked this out of curiosity but this is something that I was going to explain anyway, thanks for the interest.
If you make something that wendell doesn't like, I guess he always reserves the right to just, ya know, not use it. Plus, it'd be fantastic promotion for you if you asked for a link to your portfolio or something in the description of the videos where it's used.
Obviously, it's totally up to you whether you charge or not and I defiantly think your work is good enough to justify it. :)
Wow. Thats a pretty fantastic job. Reminds me of Watch Dogs, but in an alternate universe where Watch Dogs was a competent game. This would be an awesome art style for the channel.
