Yup have the gen 2 Solo for bass input and is is really good, do not have a mic but have been flicking through the thread keeping an eye on suggestions.

Agreed, I have a 2i2 first gen with a rode procaster and it is a nice interface.

used this guys reviews as my guide to getting a micro phone.

found the actual usage tests very helpful.

I still have a Samson GoMic like the one pictured

Got a lot of usage, but usb socket got bit bent and OH now uses it occasionally

IMO it has good sound clarity for spoken word
does not pick up too much background noise like larger condensers

clipping to a monitor/laptop not good idea as prone to picking up vibration
(foam pad under mic stand or similar will fix that)
get a pop shield too or keep a good distance, sensitive to plosives

Ok so I’m back doing this. The req’s have changed to now also allow vocals for music that move fast and are loud.

And I actually have 2 candidates that I really like. One for 450, one for 99.

and

tho the 300 dollar variant is more comparable to the sterling in my 10 minutes I got to play with them before getting tossed out of the test booth xD

Whatchall think? I kinda wanna go pick one up soon, but I don’t have a solid feel yet.

Also, my cieling is starting to go up on what I can spend, so thats why the Aston is looking optional. Only based on my use of it tho, the sterling was almost exactly the same for way less.
