I tried to revert back to Touchwiz after using Cyanogen for some time. So i followed a online guide
But it keeps giving me the same error
I really need some help on this!
Thank you very much.
What phone is it? Do you still have recovery ? (twrp, etc)
It's a note 3. Don't have any backup or recovery.
does it show up in ADB?
I haven't used odin in some time. but what you may want to do is get the developer kit and use it to flash a custom recovery to the phone and then use that custom recovery to then flash whatever ROM you have. if you haven't changed the bootloader then you still have the stock one. so if you can get to "download mode" then you can flash the recovery via ADB in the developer tools. let me know if you need more help with getting that set up.
I am still fairly noob when it comes to phone stuff. But I do believe I got a custom bootloader. Though i can still go to download mode. If I would have to make a unedicated guess I would say that it's simply because the OS I am trying to load onto the phones is 2gb but I only have 1gb left on it. " FAIL! (Size)". I have no experience with ADB. But please if you could give me any noob friendly steps I would really appreciate it.
If it powers on use odin and download the stock rom. If it doesn't power on take the battery out, put the battery in and power into download mode right away. This should work. Oh you may also try the latest KIES.
I have been trying to get back to the (almost) stock rom. By almost I mean I can't find the danish rom so I went with unknown (AMO). I tried both versions of Kies none of them recognize my device. Download mode says "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again
found a fix thanks for all the help guys!
First flash the firmware of choice let it fail.
Unplug the device and plug it back in with out rebooting it let it stay in the failed download mode.
Now uncheck the PDA/AP and add the PIT file attached here.
make sure repartion is checked and PDA/AP is not
Flash PIT and the phone will reboot and start up with your new firmware.
Note the PIT is for G900F 16GB EU --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2693690&d=1397809602
nice. I think what happened was either a incompatibility with the firmware reading the ROM or the free space you mentioned earlier. It happens a lot when you find old tutorials on phones with old bootloader file that are on some sketchy google drive or something similar. Then they link to a rom that is too new for the bootloader to recognize. Also the firmware can either be to new or old to recognize the bootloader. So many things to go wrong. but you can almost always fix any of them. with either the tools you used on the computer to flash the bootloader or using the bootloader to wipe/flash a new ROM.
p.s. sorry I'm late. 8-5 job killing me
It's alright man I really appreciate your help anyways. I would probably just have given up if it wasn't for all the nice people who helped me here.
Hey,
Great that it worked out for you, but a warning to other people with the error:
You should be careful using PIT (partition information table) for other models (unless they are basically identical models, like the SM-N9005 and the SM-P605 32GB version, for instance).
Is there a 16GB version of the N9005? If you use a PIT for a 16GB file system, chances are you have just halved your available flash memory (I have only heard of the SM-N9005 having 32 GB). Did it not work using a PIT file for the Note 3?
It says I have 32gb usable, that might not be true ofc, but I keept all my apps photos and stuff. All that also used to fill about 29gb. So I think i'm golden.
