This blog entry is about the way i feel. The relief of selling all my consoles. I chose to sell all my consoles from handhelds to consoles i thought i was going to regret it but no instead i feel a lift from my back that i don't need to worry about what game i need to play or taking care of all the games i own, also the relief of i have finally i have space in my room. the relief made me a better person by not worrying about the things i have. i made serious cash off of all of my consoles and invested into a desktop. I still have space and i don't have to luge all the physical games with me instead i have nothing but a desktop and monitor and i get the same experience even better then what i had with my new PC. i dedicated my life to console now my full move to PC has changed the way i play and act in life. Thanks for reading.
Good stuff. You can use emulators for many older console games, including handhelds. Better to have one system that can do it all.
I'm not sure I'd do that just yet.
While yes, I'd probably sell an XBox 360 or a PS3, I would definitely keep an SNES, original Nintendo, or Sega Genesis. They have value not only in nostalgia, but can also be more responsive than emulators can. Also, using converters/adapters, you can get that old co-axial output and convert it into HDMI for a TV.
Also, even though an emulator is nice and dandy, I do like having a dedicated console. Not with the new junk from Microsoft or Sony, but the consoles from the golden age of console gaming in the 80s and 90s! I'd probably get an emulator for handhelds, though, since their screens, buttons and batteries can be awful.
Also, having an old SNES or original NES can be a great accessory to show off your gaming passion, and what started you on that path. =) Sometimes emulators just don't give you that same, great old experience.
Agreed, while I skipped over the modern consoles, I refuse to sell my old consoles, All my PS2 and older stuff is staying.
Old CRT tube TVs cam be found for free as large as 30" with everything up through Component video in and even have audio passthrough for a surround sound system, which is how I have my old NES, SNES and Genesis consoles hooked up now to exactly that from a Craigslist free find to replace my ancient 27" tube that only had coaxial in and had to have all the consoles hooked up via the VCR lol.
Yes, I've got a nice 46" 1080p LED TV for everything else, but the old tube is staying specifically for the old game consoles.
Yeah, I've had hands on experience with the OpenPandora emulation console/portable comp, and while it's very good, I just can't justify the cost of it.
I've got a PS3 and refuse to sell it because it is an excellent Netflix/Blu-Ray device.
Only consoles worth having are gen 6 and previous, the Wii and 3DS are the only gen 7 consoles that I really care about, gen 8 (current gen) is a total waste IMO
