I need to upgrade my GPU and I could use some input

Those are completely different CPUs. The 3600 is too expensive but good if you can’t run 5000 series. You want the 5600.

The difference in performance between Zen1 and Zen3 in gaming is almost criminal. It’s almost fraud how bad Zen1 actually is. It’s almost to the point I regret promoting RYZEN over Intel during Zen1. Zen2 redeemed the situation and Zen3 is when RYZEN slaughtered Intel.

At the time of Zen1, Hardware Unboxed Steve was saying Intel gamed a lot better than RYZEN even though it had a much lower Cinebench score.

I’ve built budget systems with the R9 390X and E3-1240v2 and these gamed about the same as RYZEN 1600 but when that was replaced with a 3600 it was transformed. Very similar to your situation before you upgraded your GPU. However you’ve simply increased the amount your system is held back by your CPU.

You’ve probably seen all the charts and benchmarks but you still don’t get it. You see a 30% increase in FPS and think meh, but the real life effect is more than what shows up in the charts. You will get it the moment you replace that Zen1 with a proper Zen3, 5600 or better.

You can probably sell the old RYZEN for good money afterwards.

Alright man, you have convinced me :joy: I won’t immediately pick one up but the end of this month will probably be a good time.

As for the old CPU, I’ll probably try to sell it but I’m not convinced I’ll get a lot of money for it. If not, I might just undervolt it (if possible) and stick it in a home server
Selling the Fury X will likely pay for a good chunk of the 5600 (although I will miss that damn thing ngl)

get a used Zen 2/3 off ebay. Lots of people have been unloading 3000 series for 5000 series, or 7000 series.

I’ve been looking at some Ebay offers as well, unfortunately a lot of the offers here in Germany aren’t very good, but maybe that will change because of Ryzen 7000 and Intel 13000.
However I’m also a bit hesitant of buying a CPU, especially PGA stuff like Ryzen so the savings need to be good

If anyone else is upgrading their GPU from their 2013 model & is near Texas, this ebay seller -Gadjit | eBay Stores, any chance it is an IT shop who just did alot of upgrades or a miner?

Has a range of nvidias and gear, If they drop to $400, might it be worth it for an A4000?
