Im currently at work and one of my coworkers offered to have a block of copper cut for me by one of his buddies. I dont know the actual dimensions of the 8350 processor, because everything on google is showing the dimensions of the box it comes in.. Plus, im on my little phone, which makes it even harder.
So if anyone can measure their 8350 for me or find the dimensions online within the next 3 hours, that would be teriffic.
Only thing i could dig up was some Tower cooler Schematics shoing a base plate sized 37mm x 53mm but i think thats so it can cover everything as ive seen shims at 40mm x 40mm sold for CPU's
Edit: measure an old AM2+ CPU which should be a similar size and it was 37mm x 37mm so my guess is that 40 x 40 should be fine.
My friend offered me a Koolance pc2-601 case. It has a pump, rad, fans, res, and tubing. All for 20 bucks. After several days of waterblock research, i thought "why the fuck am i paying 50-60 dollars for something i can make myself for less than 30?"
so my plan is to make a 100% custom watercooling loop for less than 60 dollars. Im going to make a thread on the forum somewhere that shows my progress.
Please do, If I don't notice it and post in the thread please do message me the link. You've peaked my interest a hell of a lot, and I'd love to see how the final product turns out.
I've considered all three, and I still don't know which exactly I'll be going with. In fact, I've actually seen all of thsoe pictures. Haha!
A fin setup will by bar be the easiest to make, although I'm not sure if it will be the most efficient. Pin is out of the question completely, as that's just going to be way too complicated. Maze is an option, I just have to get creative.
I'll definitely keep you all updated. I plan on getting the old case sometime this weekend, and then ripping it apart and seeing what I can do with it. I gave the dimensions to a buddy of mine at work and gave him my number, so he's gonna see what he can do for me. I'll make a thread at some point.
a square pin would yeald the highest surface area, not as much as a round pin- but its easier to make. (cut really thin channels left to right then the same amount top to bottom.)
I was aware that I could have found it online, but like I said, I was at work and the computers there are not allowed to be used for anything personal. Not only that, but my phone is an LG Rumor Touch. Not really capable of... well... anything.
Cant wait to see how you actually do this, as for the Design i think a fin arrangement would be the best option as its less likely to have any dead spots or create to much turbulence.
