I need some help with a MSI video card

I just bought this card   MSI R6570-MD1GD3  and it doesn't work on my mother board
when i power up the PC i get "1 long, 2 short" beeps from the PC speaker and
I have tested the card on an other mother board and it is working just fine
This is my mother board model: Gigabyte GA-945PL-S3P.

*my pc power supply - 550 watts

*i have updated to the latest bios version for the mother board with no luck

*up until now my graphics card was an nvidia 220 gt

Thank You.

I'm not too overly familiar with all the different PCI naming schemes, but it looks like you might be trying to shove a PCI 2.1 card into a PCI 1 slot. That motherboard is... pretty much ancient. The video card is too new. There's no way to make that work with that combination of GPU and motherboard.

I don't believe this is the case otherwise the GT 520 wouldn't be working on my old pc which only has PCI-e 1.1 16x

The mother board supposed to have PCI-e 2.0 16x from what information i have gather

Beep codes: 1 long 2 short: Monitor or display card error.
Block Diagram: not 2.0 but original pci-e x16.
Shouldn't really matter since  pci-e is backwards compatible.
I'd email Gigabyte, it should be working.

Could the power supply be the problem ?

Can you at least recomand me a 775 soket mother board witch may work ?

I cant find any 775 motherboards that have 2.0pci16x slots, I would say just completely upgrade to i3 or higher.

That will take a while :)

Thanks for the help guys.

AMD pcie 2.1 and 3.0 cards will NOT work in pcie 1.x slots. 2.1 added some electrical interfacing not present in 1.1 slots, which AMD uses to improve power efficiency. nvidia cards lack this interface.

Well this sucks

So if i excenge the card with an nvidia 630 gt it will work ?
