I need some advice for my part list

I've got my entire part list here: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1Q97r

I just need advice on whether these parts are good, or if there are other alternatives which are either, A. cheaper but still as good, or B. a little more expensive, but far more cost-effective.

Extra Info:

  • Budget: About $1700-1800
  • Country: USA (USD)
  • I will be overclocking my i7 to about 4.7-5.0GHz
  • If anyone can send me a link for a beginner's guide to overclocking, that would be great!
  • This build will be mostly for BF4 and Planetside 2, since those two games are the hardest to run in my list. I will be aiming for approximately 60 frames on both games at maximum settings.
  • Res: 1920x1080
  • I will, for the most part, be sticking with my CPU and GPU (unless there's a different manufacturer that's better for the SAME card). If there really is another CPU or GPU that is far more outstanding than the ones in my build, please let me know! (Provided it won't put a huge dent in my budget)
  • I will also request 144hz monitors or, with proper explanation, 120hz monitors, because I'm sure those are cheaper. How much of a difference is there between 144hz and 120hz?
  • I will need recommendations for a case, as well. (ATX mid towers, please)

This is my first, ever computer build and I am fairly inexperienced, so please bear with me! Thank you (:

you may want to go with the new AMD R9 series cards as they will be running mantle, which is a low level api that reduces processing overhead for basically a 10x performance increase over cards that dont support it. you will be getting very high temps with that h60 cooler, either go with a double radiator config, EX: h100i ---> i run my fx-8350 at 4.67 GHz under load at a little above 40”C. Try and go with 1600 ram, its not much more expensive than 1333. but it all depends on if the ram is overclockable. and also why the 144 hz monitor? are you going to be doing 3d gaming? if so purchase a pair of 3d glasses atleast if you are going to drop that ammound on just a monitor.

I can put together a build for you with the same cpu but just tweaked a little just to give you more options.

Oh, if you could compile a better list, that would be awesome! I was planning on using a 144hz monitor because I've heard that more hertz makes for smoother, crisper gameplay. If its really not necessary I can take a lower Hz. I have considered the R9, but I wasn't sure how much of a difference it would make, compared to the 770.

The R9 would be able to destroy. basically what mantle allows is as follows

•Direct hardware level access to the gpu (what consoles use to get so much performance out of so little)

•Open source so that any company can use it in the future (yes even Nvidia but they would possibly have to make a new arcitecture to run it)

you would be able to run bf4 maxed out on the R9 280X with ~300~ fps of extra processing power, and for 60 fps gaming a 60hz monitor will look ok. but unless you are going to do 3d gaming in the future then I suggest a 60 hz high resolution monitor EX: 2560 x 1440 or something around there.
