I am building a pc for the first time and I want to know if I need to connect to ethernet to download drivers. If I buy a usb wifi adapter, can I use that to download them without even hooking up to a ethernet? I'm asking because my pc is not close to my router so I cannot use the ethernet. I hope I can use the usb wifi adapter to download the drivers. Thank you
Download them on another computer and then transfer with a flashdrive. That is the easiest way.
I cant because I have no other computer access. If I move my pc to the ethernet and install the drivers, will I be able to then use the usb? Here is my pc build if that helps anything. http://pcpartpicker.com/user/jenison12345/saved/Jk3XsY and the usb is Linksys Dual Band Wireless N600 USB Adapter from wallmart.com
None at all? No local library?
Try plugging in the usb adapter and see what happens. A lot of times, Windows can automatically install drivers without needing internet access, in my experience. If it doesn't work, then try something else. However, in my experience, you occasionally need drivers in order to use ethernet in the first place soooooo. Downloading them all on another computer really is the most straightforward way about this.
Actually I think I may be able to do it. One more thing is do I need to add a wired network adapter to connect a ethernet cord to my build?
No, you don't. The motherboard has an ethernet port already
Might want to do some more googling or research before you damage something.
Most of the time they come on a disk with the parts. Did you get any disks?
