So I got enough cash for my Birthday, that if I add it up with the money I saved already I could get a Asus GTX 780.
Is it really worth it? I want to play new games at 1080p on a single monitor. I know that a 780 is overkill, but I want to be as future proof as possible, with maybe going for a sli when maxwell comes out and the prices of the 780 go down.
I have a 780. It is absolutely lovely. Maxes every game I have at 1080p no problem. While there is no such thing as a future proof GPU, the 780 should last you for quite some time.
I will continue to use a 1080p monitor for the next years anyway, because I don' trust 4k yet. So if it last for quite some time, that should be the best decision.
