So I have posted here before about the same topic but my tastes have changed so decided to make a new one. Before asking me check my Steam Profile http://steamcommunity.com/id/MrChumps/ before you repeat the games that I own. I want anime games JRPGS, action that have that cute charm like Recettear an Item Shop's Tale or just cute somewhat in general that have a good story. FPS games that have a good story. ps. Trying to quit League of Legends because I keep playing that game and I hate myself because I am addicted to it so that's why I am making this post.
PPS. NO MOBAS forgot to add that i just can't stand the communities from the MOBA games and also no rpg maker games i just hate rpgmaker games that people make.
Rayman Legends is pretty nice. I am currently busy with Witcher3 with "short" 3 hours breaks from it to play Velocity 2X, whyever... Something completly different: Train Valley, just download and play the demo to see if it fits you. I really can´t think of any FPS with even a decent story. Third person shooter some maybes but FPS? Not one.
If you want to try a new MOBA/AOS: Heroes of the Storm. Community is good (at least in Europe). Most matches I play begin with some sort of "hi". Most players react to pings and teamplay is important. Playing vsAI all day is lowest stress I had in any MOBA/AOS so far.
The only JRPG I can think of that are available to steam would be Neptunia. Other JRPG that do not have anime like style would be Final Fantasy series as nearly all of them has really really good story line.
There are quite a few nice games that are developed by Japanese devs are Metal Gear Solid 5, Metal Gear Rising, Dark Souls series and Devil May Cry 4 (3 has some of the best story line but the controls are utter crap, nearly unplayable).
As for FPS games, I would say Deus Ex series is one of the best out there, the other is Metro series which you have already.
You mentioned you want to quit League, Dota can be an alternative but do bear in mind that Dota can be very very punishing for new players that are trying to get into MOBA or League players transitioning. Maybe you can try out some not so competitive RTS games, like the first Warhammer 40k Dawn of War series. Many players are still playing the Dark Crusade expansion because it features nearly all factions except Tyranids (Zergs in 40k). There are also many players playing Soulstorm for its Ultimate Apocalypse Mod
I played Dawn of War 2, while I was disappointed by the removal of RTS mechanics, I have to say the story line is still really good. It got me into Warhammer 40K and I'm already started collecting.
Rumor has it Dawn of War 3 will incorporate gameplay of Company of Heroes. Can't wait for Relic/Sega to announce it.
So long as it also removes the ungodly amounts of DLC that DoW2 had, although I hope it's on a better optimized engine, you needed a really good CPU for CoH for some reason.
I would recommend Valkyria Chronicles if you're into JRPG/Strategy games. Awesome story and characters, gameplay is even better. Probably one of my favourite games out of everything haha.
@RazorLR1 Agreed! Good choice! FPS games with a good story I'd go with Deus Ex, original or Human Revolution. Both are an enjoyable play through.
The Legend of Korra is also an alright game for anime/action/fighting game, although it gets old pretty quick haha.
Final Fantasy went all steam punk futuristic after Final Fantasy 6 which became crappy in my eyes. The whole swords, guns and magic does not fit with me. I want the old stuff with swords and bows and magic. Yes there is magic and stuff after Final Fantasy 6 but it seems so off and does not fit with me. I want my Final Fantasy or JRPGS in general to have that medival fantasy themed and turned based.However there are some exceptions because I'm weird.How ever I may check out Final Fantasy 9 which it seems to returned to its roots if it gets released on the PC.
I went out and bought Valkyria Chronicles on G2A after I read JRPG, regret spending $8 AUD on it since it has Strategy as well since I'm stupid and I do not think. The reason that I dislike stratergy games like Final Fantasy Tatics and Valkyria Chronicles and other games which I know they are good games its just that it requires thought and planning. Yes I know JRPGS have strategy to them but its not heavily emphasized . My playstyle in JRPG is to have brawn over brains i.e get the biggest sword and swing it.
Thanks for helping out anyways, I may try out Valkyria anyways since I kinda liked Advanced Wars on the GBA ended up rage quitting it after the first Fog of War level.
also the new lego avengers is also quite fun (lego games are ageless, doesnt matter if you are 8 or 40 years old.. there is something there for everyone :D)
