I love Notch. (Windows 8)

Following this guy is always fun!

I may end up running Windows 8 but openshell is going on top of that bitch so it looks like 7. I really hope the moves by both microsoft (going more closed) and steam (telling windows to screw off) push further development in linux for better driver and game support, I would have loved to ditch windows ages ago but dualing booting is too much of a hastle and I love my games.

Only way im running w8 is when there's enough software that gives me the choice of heavily modifying the os, get rid of the crap in it.

I'd switch to Linux if I had 100% gaurantee that AFX would run perfect, and that is, not in wine.  I am aware there are open source solutions, but I am still debating.  Though  Autodesk does have a Redhat/Fedora solution, that might be a choice.

Shame he's such a crap developer. But I'm glad he's standing up against it.

game developers,,, plz stop working whit windows. start working on linux (plz nvida give us better linux driver)

Am I the only one that doesn't understand this whole "Game Developers hate Windows 8" deal? From what I see, developers are mad because apps in the Marketplace are required to follow certian rules set by Microsoft. My question is, who cares. In windows 7, there was no Marketplace. Now, you have the OPTION to have your games hosted if they follow these rules. They are not forcing you to do this in any way. You can still buy a game from steam, install it, and run it fine from the startscreen.

Unless there are some serious changes to windows 8 under the hood that make playing games less efficiant (which I have yet to experiance since I installed in August), I don't see a big deal.

I agree. Windows 8 isn't any more closed than Windows 7. The only reason game devs are mad is because the Windows Store competes with their stores and they don't like that. A lot of the gamers themselves hate it just because it's the "cool" thing to do and they want to be part of the mob mentality.

Windows RT actually is locked down, but that is completely separate from Windows 8, other than that it looks identical. Windows RT is pretty much the equivalent to iOS/Android, etc.

2013 THE YEAR OF THE LINUX DESKTOP

the reason everyone hates win8 is because it has shitty design for pc's.... tablets it's ideal for, but for those who run dual moni, it's horrendus.....

Don't worry, I'm sure they'll stop this stupidity once they notice the negative reactions... I hope...

I run Windows 8 with dual monitors and I find it to be more efficient than Windows 7. Particularly because each display gets a taskbar so now if you're keeping an application on the 2nd display, you don't have to switch to the 1st display to minimize/restore the window.

I will stick with ubuntu. My pc wont run most games anymore anyway.

Don't worry. W8 is just the new Vista... :)

It's all gonna be ok by W9(I hope).

It's always been that way. We had Windows ME and then XP, we had Vista and then 7.

Now we have 8 and if the past is anything to go by, W9 will be better. :)

defeats the purpose. besides, how u get to the settings bar if you'll just go to the other screen?

oh it goes back farther than that....

windows 3.1 was good, win95 was shit, 98 was good, 2000 (me) was shit, xp was good, vista was shit, 7 was good, 8 is shit.... ect.

So the reason people don't like it because of the design? Then the "windows 8 sucks!" argument is purly opinion based, No?
