I have 2 cooling questions

Ok i have a cooler master hyper 212+ on my main rig,and i was wondering on my last rig(which i still have)has a coolit domino ALC,first would the coolit be better since it is a water cooler? If so,are cpu backplates interchangable?

So nobody knows?

No, it probably won't be better because it's a very cheap liquid cooler.

I don't get the point of the second question. If you want to swap cooling systems, just follow the installation process. Hyper 212 is universal and will fit any motherboard. Check your liquid cooler list of supported sockets if you want to know if it will fit your new rig. Judging from what I could google about it, it won't.

Well the liquid coolersupports am2,and so does the hyper 212+,i am using an am3+(isn't the cooler mount the same from am2 to am3+?),also the coolit is current on a socket 775 which is also supported by both.

What i was thinking was that if i were to switch the cooler(which i might not)could i just leave the backplates on and just switch the cooler over, would that work?

Yes the mount for AM2, AM2+, AM3 and AM3+ is all the same. (just check the cooler is capable of cooling the thermal output of the processor you're attaching it to)

So your on about switching the coolers without switching the backplates. Well you need to look at how the mounting hardware bolts to the backplate, as the coolers could have different bolt sizes or different methods of locking to the backplate.

You are best to switch the backplates as to avoid any issues now or further down the road.

Most (If not all) coolers will come with a backplate. Use the one provided. They provide it for a reason.

Well the coolit was already on my old rig when i bought it used,so it only has the lga775 backplate, and when i bought the 212+(at a frys) it was cheaper cause it was missing the intel backplate.

Maybe. Those "Might" work together.

Ok ty,oh one last question the coolit is cooling a q9450 at stock and it idled just above room temp and under load it would hit about 56c(75f room temp) and my 212+ cooling an 8150 at stock hits about the same at idle but under load is hitting 62c.(85f room temp)

Do you guys think the coolit might be better?
