I fixed a peltier fridge!

while messing around with my brothers weak black and Decker mini fridge I noticed that it was not that working well. It did not want to go any thing more than 20f below room temp. and since its in a garage, that does not function for him. It also takes all night to cool again if I open the door and let all the cool air out (with nothing inside). To fix this I simply made the fan blow air on the cold heat-sink rather than suck air towards it. It cools back down after being left open in 15-20 mins instead of 5+ hrs! If any of you find these peltier mini fridges broken or working purchase them. If you replace the thermal compound and replace the either 80 or 92mm fan they work better than many compressor fridges. When I return home I plan to replace the extremely low quality thermal compound on my own mini fridge, which is completely silent after installing a rosewill fan.

you talking about on e of these fridges? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-and-Decker-Mini-refrigerator-/161358450132?pt=Small_Kitchen_Appliances_US&hash=item2591b68dd4

I think he means something like this

NO i am talking about what jeremy suggested. Those fridges use peltiers. too many people just do not understand that peltiers rang from 10w like the usb to 250w. the one i fixed uses 2x75w peltiers

The one he linked to with the freezer is the compressor based model. but my brother has a peltier one.

how many amps is that

12.5 amps

can you post some pics? thinking of a diy cooler now.

Didn't know they made cooling units of that size. Interesting.

i don have a camera with me. just look around. these sell for like 15 all day on craigslist. but if you had a styrofoam cooler, a peltier, 2 heat sinks, and 2 fans along with some other bits you could make one even powered by your pc.
