I don't know what I'm doing. Some one help me build this thing, please

I am just trying to build a reasonable photo editing and rendering pc that can run Adobe and Autodesk programs. I will only have one game on it, if any. I am just a noob trying not to burn my house down. I have a mouse and a TV that I am going to use as my monitor.

Parts list:

CPU:Intel Core i7-3770 Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core

GPU: MSI N660Ti PE 2GD5 GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB

RAM:Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600

MOTHERBOARD: ASUS P8Z77-V LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

POWER: Thermaltake SMART M Series SP-750M

CASE: Rosewill Thor V-2

OPTICAL DIVE: SAMSUNG Black SATA DVD-ROM Drive Model SH-118AB

STORAGE: Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 1TB

KEYBORD: Rosewill Mechanical Keyboard RK-9000BRI

I've been shopping at Newegg and my total comes out to 1,222.91

Any help you guys can give me would be great. I especially need help with my power supply. I'm not sure but I think 750watts might be to much.

A Tv as a monitor for a photo editting computer doesn't sound like a great idea.

Since you won't be doing too much gaming and will need it for rendering, you could pick up this processor http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113284 instead.

Agreed. You'll want a monitor with a DVI input, not VGA. My 'monitor' is a 32' Emerson LCD TV with a VGA hookup. I wish I'd gotten a 20-some inch monitor with DVI instead.

put less into keyboard. get a 500-600w psu by seasonic, xfx, antec, or corsair....

and get an IPS panel montitor. what specific programs are you going to use?

also, get a good mid-tower, the thor-V2 is a bargain full-tower, but you don't need that size for your build.

I am going to be running the following:

Photo shop
Illistrator

Flash

3ds Max

Maya

Manga Studio

At some point in time there will be some kind of game programing going on. For now this thing is just going to be my work station for Graphic Design and Animation.

manga ehh, I'll do this just because you're cool, what's your budget?

Id say at least 16Gb of ram and a good cooler for your cpu so you can overclock/ because itll be at 80-100% load a lot if your rendering, get the keyboard later, and maybe buy 8gb in two kits one for the build and then add on later, id also go with a different motherboard if you dont need all the features, the asrock extreme 4 and gigabyte z77x d3h are solid boards with out to many "extra" features to drive up the cost, and for photo editing, you will rpobably want an SSD 128Gb and up if you plan on storing the Programs you use on it + a few of your projects or buy something like a 60Gb SSD to use as a cache for the 1TB drive.

I'm not sure what you mean by extra features in the board and I'm not planning on getting an SSD. I think I'll be fine with just the sata connected 1tb drive. I don't know how to set up a cache.

just tell me your budget and I'll whip up something really good, also what country will you be buying in?

 Comments:

I've added an 64gb msata drive to use for caching. The 2tb harddrive is a more expensive model from WD but has a longer warranty and build to last longer which is useful if your going to store a lot of pictures and movies.

I added 16GB of ram because this is very useful if your going to render and work with large files. You can add 16GB in the future if you like for a total of 32GB RAM.

The 128GB SSD is for the OS and and some editing software so it runs smoothly.

The motherboard has a lot of sata connections if you want to add more harddrives in the future.

750watt is a bit overkill unless your planning on adding more harddrives in the future if not go for a lower wattage.

Cardreader seemed useful for an editing pc remove it if you don't need one ofcourse.

If your not going to use the monitor you can also remove it. It's a nice screen with near perfect color reproduction.

I have added the Bitfenix Ghost case because it is focusing on being silent which is useful if you need to work with your computer all day :)

As last I've added a cpu cooler that's awesome if your going to overclock your cpu. If not then replace it with a cheaper model something like Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO.

If I forgot something or you have questions feel free to let me know.

Sorry GIGABUSTER.EXE. I just got hit with a storm of help full and I am sorting through it all.

My budget is 1250$ out the door with os. I'm not really fexlable there. I'm buing the parts in the United States of America(FUCKYERAH). AND HOLY CRAP THAT OTHER GUYS PART LIST!

I can't stress to you guys how much I don't know what I am doing. There will be NO over clocking. I'll burn my house down. I will still get the cooler, thanks.

I'm planing on adding just one more hard drive and another grapihcs card latter on. Would I be safe dropping to a 550w psu?

I understand that running my os and editing programs on the SSD will speed it up with maxed out swag stats. Is the added smoothness really woth it? I plan on keeping this thing for over 5 year and I am concerned about how long the SSD's will last.

By the god's this list wets my pants. . . can you recomend me a cheep keyboard?

I went ballistics!

It goes down below your budget if you do the discounts and rebates.

8350 is what you need for editing.

680 for stupid fast editing and CUDA acceleration.

16GB is probably more than enough, but I threw that in there because it can fit.

1TB HDD to store everything. Caviar Black for the speeds.

The Corsair 300R is an awesome case at a low price range.

XFX 750W is more than enough( which is never bad unless you need to save money). XFX basically just reboxes Seasonic PSUs, which are the best.

Some cheap random DVD drive.

Windows 64-bit Pro. I wasn't sure if you already have one, so I just threw one in. If you do, you could shave that off. Or you could use Linux.

CM Storm QuickFire Rapid is an awesome mech keyboard. You could save money by just buying a traditional keyboard, as your not gonna game that much.

I love doing editing builds. Kudos for using Manga Studio.

Edit: I wasn't the one who posted this. I asked my friend to do it, since I was still asleep. He did a little research though( " I Googled 'Maya CUDA' and it says it supports it)( I Googled it too, I got some plug-ins and what nots).

cool I'll get on it then

oKAY GUYS

THIS IS WHAT I GOT: HELP ME OUT

Z don't give me any props yet I suck with this program

What is the following:

8350?

Cuda and how do I check for it?

Will a 550psu due?

I don't have enought faith in my self to run linux just yet. one more programming class.

No Kudos just yet I suck in Manga Studio.

All of that stuff has me at 1180.90 out the door and in my house

Nvidia is really only good for Adobe products, AMD is King for openGL

that has faster ram on both the GPU and mainboard for faster renders, AMD is boss at OpenGL.  There is a promo code for the PSU, it ends the 10th of this month, in a few days.

go to good will and find the oldest functioning yellowed keyboard, it will be mechanical and about 5 bucks, if you don't like the color then use Retr0brite

this will be as good as a 100 mechanical one

i'll look and see if 3dsmax and maya support cuda

ok, 3ds mak does not support cuda, neither does maya. they do suppoert openGL tho....
