I clearly got the wrong hardware for BF4

FX-8350 @4Ghz
ASRock 990FX Extreme 3
7970 DirectCU II
8GB 1600Mhz. Patriot
Windows 8 Enterprise

Settings on Low no filters no AA @ 1280X720 gets 60-80FPS Runs like rubbish. Don't think I'll go with AMD again once I get a job >_> LOL

Fraps Logs of 120sec bench:

Siege Of Shanghai 64players
 Min:44, Max:118, Avg:73.708

What are you guys all running on with this game?

Ummm you should get MUCH better than this.

I get 80 Solid FPS on high and 40-50 on ultra on Most maps

AMD [email protected] Ghz which is easy to reach with an H80 or any similar cooler

and HIS HD-7870 ICEQ @1150/1350mhz

16 GB DDR3 1866 MHz Corsair Vengence RAM

i think there is something wrong with your build?

i too am using an 8350 (clocked at 4.6ghz) + club3d 7970 and everything is running perfect on ultra

I havent done any fraps tests as I havent had to, frame rates have been solid (I only really bother with bench marking when I suspect things arent running as they should).

I game at 1440 x 900 (as its the only setting on my hdtv that runs at 75hz) and it is awesome.

I am assuming that you have tried that core parking utility to see if any cores are being parked? (they shouldnt be in win8 but it doesnt hurt to check).

i had nothing but touble with my asrock extreme 970 board

the issue is your vrm,s are thermal throttling

they have a very weak 4+1 array

i completly fryed my asrock and it fried my cpu so i had to replace the cpu and get a better board so now i have the asus m5a99x evo r2.0 its much better

infact there is a thread on here about it

battlefeild 4 runs better on amd hardware

under clock your cpu believe it or not you may see an improvment

Yes something is clearly not right on your end.

How do other games run? How up to date are your drivers?

here is the thread from when i had issues https://teksyndicate.com/forum/motherboards/8350-cooked-asrock-what-mb-now/133900

there is a good point, the standard windows drivers would cause this issue

download the latest catalist here http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows+7+-+64

use the 13.9 download and install and restart

From my experience of these things I'd do a benchmark as is, then try a bios and drive update... they run benchmarks with you fans set to max and case side off. If you see a decent improvement between the benchmarks you've fixed (or at least found in the case of thermal issues) your problem, if not your into much bigger problems...

Do you have the Beta drivers for your AMD card? I had problems then I got the Beta drivers and its all good

You've got a problem somewhere. Your cpu and gpu are quite capable with BF4.As other have mentioned your motherboard isn't that great for the 8350 and may be throttling.

By the way why are you running the BF4 at such low settings and at 720p?

install msi afterburner, to monitor the GPU usage, play the game on 1080p, auto settings or so. if the usage is really low, it has to be the CPU

Firstly BF4 was still a mess as of the last time I played (Nov 16th) so it could be that. Secondly it runs worse without beta drivers and lastly there were/are known performance issues with AMD, Intel and nVidia hardware. play some forumfield and watch all the complaints ;)

EDIT: You cant use rivatuner (MSi afterburner and EVGA Precision X) with BF4 64 bit

You cant use afterburner to show up in the game, but it monitors in the background, so you can check it afterwards.

Yeah I did this the other night it only hits around 60-65 max the CPU hits around the same some times less.

I've got the new beta drivers and been using them for some time. As the others have said I think it is the mobo.

One of my friends said the same thing few weeks back but thought he was pulling my leg. Looks like I need to find a temp job quick XD

update your drivers to the beta. I got better than that, with pretty much the same hardware.

Using 13.11 Beta atm

All 8 cores become used while the game is running. And 4 cores parked when idle.

Regardless of driver issues, you are almost certainly encountering voltage throttling due to inadequate power delivery on your motherboard. The 8350 really needs a motherboard with 6+2 power phase design to achieve it's potential.

Yeah I ended up turning off the amp and turbo crap that was set to auto. That could of been giving me these messy spikes in-game. As for the mobo I think I'll be saving up and get one after Christmas on sale or something.
