I am a poor college student Who needs new durable headphones, Earbuds, or IEMs

I am a poor college student I am tiered of spending $15-25 every semester on earbuds or headsets that cables break on . I need a set of earbuds or a headset that I can take with me every ware but will not break. I want to wind them up put them in my pock or back pack and not worry about them. I don’t treat my stuff like complete crap but I Use them constantly. Most of my head phones or ear buds the cable has given out in some way. Either leading to only one sided working or both fraying and only working at cretin angles.

budget <$100 the cheaper the better.
I am not a serious audiophile and don’t have the money to be any ways. Build quality, durability, and comfort are more important to me then audio quality. But I would like them not to sound horrible.
I am not a huge gamer and do not need or want a mic. When I doe play its mostly borderlands, halo or TF2 with my friends or brother in the room.
Also because I am not gaming and will be using these every wear I want closed. I also use these to help me focus and will often wear them for hours will i am working even I have not been listing to any thing for hours.

I want a detachable cable or Bluetooth. so the the ^@^ cable does not break or can be replaced.

I use these for
listing to YouTube videos mostly with talking (Tek syndicate, linus tech tips, vsauce, sci show)
watching shows online (red vs blue, game of thrones, cop shows)
listing to music a mix of alt rock, classic, and pop. for hours at a time (I enjoy female lead vocals; metric…)
Use both with my laptop (HP envy 15) and cell phone (HTC desire 816)
listing to music while cutting grass ( If ear bud i put head phones over them)
just having them on to dull some sound. Don’t need active noise cancellation or any thing and would prefer if i could still hear people talking to me/ trying to get my attention when i am not playing music.
walking around with them on. Bluetooth would be nice so i could move about freely not tethered to phone but other quality including price are more important.

what I found on line in top 10 list for durability, audio quality under $100, or headphone.com graph. I need advice on these or other suggestions.

Shure 215 in ear (like replaceable cable, good audio quality fit and look. but in linus’s review of the Sennheiser momentum in ear he say that he has had friends that had problems with the cable and the the Sennheiser momentum in ear sound better. I am also worried about how high the base is acording to headroom graph)
Sennheiser momentum in ear (no replaceable cable so i am worried about same problems)
Sennheiser momentum on ear (don’t Know how sturdy they realy are with exposed cable above head band, but like locking detachable cable.)
California headphone company (went up from the $50 they were and i would have bout them at to $99 and don’t have detachable cable and the go to both ears seperatly unless you go to $150 which is way out of budget $100 relay is the max)
Ausdom M05,M06,M08,S03 (have no clue on audio quality on any of these. the carbon fiber-ish looks cool in particular)
Bluedio T2’s (have no clue on audio quality)

Final summery of quality’s in order of importance
less then $99
Durable strong materials
detachable cable or blue tooth (no cable breaking)
comfort
audio quality as go or better then phone speakers (HTC Desire 816) for music, peoples voices and light gaming.
sound dampening or isolation
don’t care if headphones, earbuds, on ear, or IEM. I you think they will last longer.

please help me find an new pair i am currently stuck stealing my brothers skull-candy hesh headphone, he is getting mad an i am not really happy or impressed by sound.

Let's get this straight, are you looking for an earphone (IEM - in-ear monitor,) headphones, or earbuds (sit on the outside of the ear)?

You said you wanted closed back, which made me think "headphones," but then you say you take them everywhere, so that makes me think "earphones/buds," cause headphones aren't easy to take everywhere.

I have a pair of Denon earphones I got and used nearly every day to watch videos on my second monitor at my last job. They're in good condition still. I think I spent a little over $100. So finding something decent up to that amount shouldn't be a problem.

I wouldn't just look at Headphone's Top Ten. They might have a sale, so you might be able to get something "better" (I use this term loosely) for a comparable price. In fact, they do right now. Don't just use one site or list. Shop around and read reviews.

I don't care I have use all three in the past. I was just point out if they where over ear i would prefer closed. As compared to most of the ones suggested in the make your own head set video. I can take headphones anywhere in my back pack. I am open to any thing from the jaybird blue-buds X work out style to big can that i put in the large front pouch maybe in a case of my back pack as long as they can deal with the strain of the cable occasionally being linked to my phone in my pocket.

headphone.com is how i came up with the Sennheiser and Shure suggestions.

more focused question is between my top two.
Shure 215 vs Sennheiser momentum?
Is the Shure 215 bass overpowering?
How durable is the Sennheiser momentum, particularly the band and exposed cable there?
How durable is the conector to the IEM for the Shure 215?

or is there something you would suggest more for longevity, price, and sound.
I just them to last a long time be comfortable and sound better the skull-candy Hesh my brother uses.

Done

I watched all three of these. I love the pic for that one.
this is why i said closed back and replacable cable. I am not gaming at my PC and and want some sound isolation and the most robustness, not to have a 3m long cable that is going to break because it is constantly being packed and un-packed. Also why I mentioned the California headphone company but those are $99 to $150 for the detachable cable.

God damn I love that intro. haha

Haha, I love that thumbnail.

How much you think that headphone hair/beard is worth?

approximately $1,750 by following links to price for the ones i see. I think there are 8 or 9 there.

some more focused question are for my top two based on reviews.

I normally just lurk around but decided to drop in because this is something I can really talk about.

I'm a real audiophile and I've spent days if not weeks on the web just reviewing different headphones that fit my taste.

I personally am a big fan of in-ear headphones, they block the ambient noise and overall just sound great, they are my favorite type of headphones. I always have a hard time picking something, but
This article helped me choose, if you want you can check it out: http://thetechplanet.net/6-best-noise-cancelling-earbuds/
The final pair listed on that article should work pretty nice, I've heard that they are durable and they also fit your budget

Most of them listed there fit your price range and demands, hope I was helpful :)

Skullcandy is awful. Go buy the ATH M40X. They're awesome and have detachable cables.

I have a pair of Sony V55's. For music they are amazing, for me at least. I might get something better later but I have had these for 3 years now. No problems

I know I hate them! my brother bought them a few years ago at a radio shack.

thanks for the advice!
I had saw those when looking them up but got the M30x M40x and M50x mix up and thought the ones with detachable cables where only the M50x.
I seriously think those are the ticket.

that is a very help full articul thank for posting!

The Klipsch s4i are great. A friend of mine who is a notorious tech destroyer has had them for about a year now and they are still functioning. They are available in different version from under 50$ to 85$ for the weather proof ones and they sound great for the price.

Sorry I am late but for durability the California Headphone Company Silverados are great. Solid metal construction no cheap parts at all, incredible isolation (kind of scares me some times), and great sound and great ability to eq.

But they are big over ears. So there is that. But they survived a year of being thrown around in a bag with my laptop and being left around in a lab chemical store. They are as solid as ever.

Roku has been shipping earbuds with their latest units. I'd wager most are not used and setting in a box somewhere. They aren't great but they sound alright. Put up a request on your local bulletin boards and you might get a few pair for free. I gave mine away.

I love the silverados and the outside has withstand the test of time but for some reason the right plugin for the detachable cable is going bad. If I push the plug to one side it works but it often goes out just from moving the cable. I dont know if its covered by the warranty, I am a very heavy user of my headphones and these are the longest lasting.

I would love to have any recomendation on fixing my problem but I recommend these headphones to anyone who wants toughness.

just develop an app and use that money to buy somthing
