Humbly requesting help with buying some new headphones

For a while now I've been considering getting a new set of headphones, and I've looked around but haven't found "the" pair for me. I had planned on getting some new cans before moving a few weeks ago, but I was just too busy to do it. I've been using a pair of JVC on-ear headphones that I got on sale for $50, but they are pretty poorly made. The Sennheiser hd558s caught my eye a few months ago, but they just didn't seem to be right for me; aesthetically they looked great but they didn't fit my use when I borrowed them from a friend.

General info:

-The type of headphones I'm looking for is an over the ear type, with a preference for padding that fully encloses the ear. As I said earlier, I've been using on-ear headphones, and while they're alright for a short period of time, a few hours of use and it begins to really irritate my ears. I also would prefer ones that don't bleed sound, since I take public transit to university. That part isn't all that important to me, since I don't mind turning the sound down, but it would be nice.

-The main use of my headphones is for the computer. I watch quite a few movies/shows/videos on netflix, youtube, and through other streams. Then I have video games, which mostly include MOBAs and FPS games. While ingame I do use VOIP, if that makes a difference. I also tend to just listen straight from my phone (an iphone4 - yeah, it's hipsterish, but my S3 broke and my sister had a spare phone).

-I do have a quite eclectic range of songs that I listen to. On the one hand I have some RnB, and then I have some death metal. But I mostly have techno music; hardstyle, dubstep, DnB, trance, and other miscellaneous genres. Overall though, I do tend to enjoy fairly pronounced bass.

I have a budget of about $150 Canadian to work with (hopefully).

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I would suggest the Audio Technica M50X.. Seems right up your alley

I would stay away from the M50's. Overhyped and well overpriced, especially in CA.

I found a pair of AKG K612's slightly over budget. I would suggest picking up those.

I'm in the exact same situation as you and I have a budget of around 250-300. So something that looks nice wouldn't hurt. I'm not really a fan of the metal bands in the k612's. So something that looks nice and fits the bill? For example, the hd598's look good... but apparently, they bleed a lot of sound.

Edit: pricing is also in CAD.

Edit 2: something with a clip on mic and the ability to work with a ps3/ps4 would also be great. Maybe I'm asking for too much?

Thought about the Superlux Logan reviewed? Really darn cheap and exceptional quality in sound. ATH-M50 are great too. Maybe opt for the older generation, not the X one. Only benefit is a detachable cable, which is not really necessary, and the older ones dropped in price when the new ones launched. The old ones are 50 bucks cheaper at 150$CA. Might want to look into the AD-700X too. Depends on your preference, but the first two mentioned will be more suitable for  electronic music.

Take a look at the V Moda Crossfade LPs, I love the pair I have.

Yeah the V Moda will for great for electronic music, and are highly portable. The bass will not be as clear as with the ATH-M50, but still very good. Its basically a choice between precision of sound and portability.
