HUGE PCi-E 3.0 doubts for CPU+MOBO Upgrade

Hi there tek-ians!

Well after much "head bursting" against the wall I have narrowed down to 2 mobos for :

AMD platform -

the Asus sabertooth fx990 and the Asus M5A99FX pro 2

Here are my doubts as follow :\

1) The sabertooth comes with a GEN3 update but it s hard to find one here.I know the sabertooth lets you clock better than the M5a99fx but for those few mhz I can ditch the sabertooth ONLY if someone explain me how is there a ASUS AMD board out there with pci e 3.0 compatibility when the cpu (fx 8350) doesnt have it.Is the new am3+ 9xxx series inherits the pcie 3.0 compatiblity? If not then is there a roadmap for more am3+ cpu in the later years?

1-Part 2) will the current asus sabertooth support the massive ghz of the new Amd 9xxx series and new cpu which "might" come with the AM3+ socket?

(lol huge query)

2) I'd get the asus m5a99fx and settle with it if no amd's AM3+ cpu ,which might support the pcie 3.0 ,will ever come out. Coz I can settle for a 4.8 ghz clock but can't find a logic behind getting the sabertooth when that pci-e 3.0 is as good as null for future even.

Intel Platform-

3) I don't see much sense in getting the 4th gen with a mere 5% increase in performance,so I am more than willing to get the 3770k with a asus sabertooth z77 only for the pcie 3.0 future proofing with this combo and the feature of sabertooth with which I can use the integrated video memory of the CPU with my dedicated gtx 770. Just let me know if I am wrong on this particular note.

Thanks.

Bump :S

FYI, PCI-E 3.0 is long ways from being really utilized.  In the workstation market, the Quadro/Firepro haven't even come close to maxing out the bandwidth in PCI-E 2.0.  PCI-E 3.0 is somewhat a gimmick for the time being.  You'll be fine with PCI-E 2.0 probably for another 2 more generations in graphics cards.  It's that bad!  I really don't understand why the market has even gone PCI-E 3.0 because if you take a look at something like the benchmarks of a GTX 780 or Titan is like 1-3fps difference.  Until we get 4k monitors, we're not going to see any improvements.  4k on PC for the moment is a stupid idea, More realastate yes, but that it.  Plus a dramatic decrease in performance from GPU at their current state.  GPU's have a hard time with 1440p as it is, so it's going to be a couple of generations until we will see PCI-E being used, by the time, you'll have a new motherboard and new chipsets so it's pointless to invest in PCI-E 3.0.  Better getting PCI-E 2.0 and use the money for a better graphics card.

Aside from that, the Sabertooth boards are made for longevity over anything, so overclocking on a M5a99FX-pro should be VERY similar.

On the Intel side, i would suggest z77, haswell is just stupid IMO, for the price and what you get, it's definitely better deal.  I blame AMD for haswell, Intel isn't being pushed because AMD isn't as competitive as they use to be.  Intel is just slumming it for the moment because they can make money with smaller upgrades and forcing the user to buy new motherboard along with it.

Cool! thanks for your reply.

I already own a zotac 770 gtx.

I thought intel cpu s already support pci 3.0 so they will use the gpu power too on that bandwidth. Guess it s really not in use right now.

So you mean that the M5a99FX-pro will die sooner than a sabertooth? :P

Yup soon when the z77 goes out of stock everywhere, people will be forced to buy the 4th gen only.which is kinda sand news for OC-ers.
