I’ve tried searching and researching but I really don’t know enough to get this working. I need one or multiple products that will allow me to use my m2 max macbook pro (and keep it charged) with my gaming PC (rtx 3090 right now) with my LG 42 oled c3 Tv (monitor) that only has hdmi 2.1 connections and has HDR, Variable refresh rate support and allows it to be at 120hz. I also need to connect my usb audio interface, mouse and keyboard and other USB accessories. I also need to be able to connect my macbook to ethernet and perferably 10gig because I use it with my Synology server.
I also have the alienware aw3225qf oled 240hz monitor as well which would be awesome if I could also connect it and use it at 240hz.
Is this possible? What exactly do I need? The closest I can find is Level1techs, but don’t know exactly which model I would need and while I would love to support him if there is anything cheaper that would be great lol, but may just end up doing this.
The best thing for this scenario is probably to get a dock for the MAC + our HDMI 2.1 KVM. This way, you can keep it charged and have multiple HDMI ports thanks to the dock, then connect it to everything thanks to the KVM.
Hook up your 3090 HDMI and dock HDMI cables to the KVM. The 4k 120hz TV and 4k 240Hz OLED can be outputs. This would be ideal because the HDMI 2.1 KVM will support VRR passthrough like GSYNC for your 3090.
This is the KVM:
I actually took a video today of our HDMI 2.1 KVM working at 240Hz on a 4K OLED with HDR:
At the moment we only have 4 PC versions of the HDMI 2.1 KVM.
You have 2 HDMI inputs because each output has a direct connection to the input. Using 1 input cable and 2 out would dramatically reduce reliability and bandwidth.
DisplayPort to HDMI is a thing that works, but can cause issues with things like Nvidia G-Sync. If you’re fine losing VRR for the monitor that is hooked up through DisplayPort → HDMI it is fine to use.
