HTTPS Everywhere & Chrome

My primary browser is Chrome and recently when I used Chrome I noticed a significantly slower response, to the point where I couldn't load anything and I was having problems logging into my google account. It wasn't internet connection issues. And I went through all my extensions and checked each one individually to see how much it was affecting Chrome.

It was only when I disabled HTTPS everywhere that everything resumed like usual. I thought it was strange but thought nothing of it. Then I went to the EFF website where they link the HTTPS Everywhere Chrome extension to find out it had been removed from the Chrome Webstore.

What I find strange about this, is that I have HTTPS Everywhere on my other browsers like Firefox and it works fine. But when I use it in Chrome it goes back to this incredibly slow speed. Its annoying because I want to use sites that support HTTPS.

I've had HTTPS Everywhere on Chrome for more than a few months and never had this problem before.

Is their a new release being developed? Is anyone else having any similar problems or am I going insane? Are there any good alternatives to HTTPS everywhere?

I'm sorry if this is the wrong board to be posting this in.

All Chrome releases should be considered beta-quality at best because of this bug and this bug in Chrome

  • To install the extension from EFF.org, you will need to download a .crx file, open a chrome://extensions tab, and drag the downloaded file into that tab. If that process is confusingly hard, you could star chromium bug 133818.
Straight from the EFF website.

Its back on the store.
