Hello, I was telling a friend of mine about how building your own PC for any purpose was, in general, cheaper and better. After this he gave me a challenge: building a HTPC capable of 1080p output, that has as much storage as possible, and that can perform the usual tasks a PC does (web surfing, music playing, etc) under $300 dollars (no OS included)... So... I was thinking (of course) of an APU, but which one I don't know (which apu is capable of that 1080p output??). Should I get the fastest ram I can get? 4gb or 8gb for this rig, and so on... Please help me, this guy will be giving me hell until I show him that system. THANKS
heres the best I could come up with

If hes just gonna play movies and surf the web this is enough
ALL APUs are capable of 1080p video, I'll see what I can come up with that has HDMI
A non-unlocked version of an APU will suffice for this build, right?
yeah literally any FM1 or FM2 APU will do 1080p video, the main thing you'll want to worry about is if the mobo has HDMI, if he had 350 to play with he could get a sexy case with a system with more features
this build will handle basic use apps more snappy as long as no HDMI is not a problem
I could maybe convice him of moving his challenge budget to a tad higher...
