I heard it is of poor quality... I consider occasionally overclocking to 4.5 GHz, which cooler would you recommend?
Stock coolers are for stock CPUs and people who have no hearing. If you want serious suggestions you have to state price you are willing to pay.
Poor tier- Hyper 212 EVO
Less poor tier- Noctua D14/ Phateks massive shit
Master Race Huge Penis God- Custom watercooling loop
Appropriate: Hyper 212 EVO
Better but expensive: Phanteks/ D14
For more cost with sometimes worse performance: Custom loop.
The Noctua D14 looks massive, won't it bend the mobo?
Only if you do not screw the actual board down, in other words, no :)
Thanks. Anyone have any experience with the EVO? Does it even fit on AM3+? (nooby question, I know)
for oc its not good try a water cooling solution, you will be able to oc past 4.5ghz
I managed 4.0ghz on a 955 BE with the standard 212 using 2 Coolermaster Sickleflow 120's, th eEVO will manage 4.5ghz easy on FX.
yes it fits perfectly. I had it on my 8150 before I upgraded to the 8350.
also look at the prices of the xigmatek dark knight night hawk edition. in logans revieuw it performed better in push pull configuration than a corsair h100. However, when the h100 was lapped it outperformed the xigmatek again
