Always get an ssd with this kind of build! Just an hdd will bottleneck your performance.
Also given how much you have allocated to your videocard, I'd wait a little bit, since some new cards are just around the corner ... especially if you are an AMD fan. The new top end 390 series are supposed to be brand new everything and perform on par / maybe even better than the 980s. Plus less hassle than running SLI/XFire. BTW is that 8gb each GPU or is that 2x4gb per GPU ... not an issue at your monitor resolution (18" is that even right?) but could be down the road.
well to me this build does not look great at all.
firstly the psu 1200W raidmax? you dont need 1200W for this to start with, also raidmax arent that great.
secondly, R9-295X2 why would you waste so much money on that gpu and just buy a 720p monitor?
third, Motherboard, if you got with a 4790K, then i would recommend to spend a bit more money, into a better motherboard, with a better vreg design.
Also this topics lacks allot on certain information, check the rules, and guide lines, from build a pc.
How? I mean what will happen beyond decreasing loading?
Also yeah I just couldn't find the PSU I had which is a Shark 80+ gold 1200w. And the tv is just temporary till I get something better. But actually I do seeing my games play 250FPS lol
Yeah its 8 total 4 each gpu. And well I don't think anything will beat the 295x2 for a while even the titan z and x are haveing trouble keeping up with it. So once they make the 395x2 ill get that. The 295x2 is a true enthusiasts grade card. It's not like the titan z where they underclocked the gpus. The 295x2 is basically 2 overclocked R9 290x watercooled and crossfired. On a stick lol. That's why it takes 500w. To power that sucker lol.
I agree with Misteryangel. The build needs some alot more balancing. CF and Sli suck if you dont understand it some. Let alone the hit and miss on performance. Cheap psu's is a good way to have your investment risk turning to junk. Mb ? It's okay for stock. Maybe, if your careful. Maybe you need to sort out what it is you are trying to achieve, first? No ssd? Really?
The reason I brought up waiting on the GPU is exactly what Freaksmacker said. XFire and SLI depend on whether the game will support them (and if yes, how well they support them). It's not automagically delicious for every app. Some people may bring up DX12 in Win 10 ... and to them I say, I'll believe it when I see it.
Personally, I went back from SLI (2x 780 GTXs) to a single GPU (290 and now single Titan X).
Well they already did benchmarks on DX12 is on par or just a bit more than Mantle (because AMD and Microsoft finally talked) and why would I want to wait for 300series? I'll get the R9 395x2 if they make one. But I'm not going for anything but that.
Well, rumor has it that HBM that is going to be on the 390 and 390X is a big game changer, that's why most people building a new rig are told to wait a bit, since the release is just around the corner (June 18-24th I believe). And as it was mentioned before, CF and SLI can have a problem with games, usually it's stutering. Also you should be able to get away with a 850W PSU, i'd go with Seasonic or Corsair.
Is this for real?
So that goes the same for a dual gpu card?
Dual GPU on one card is still SLI or XFire, just one physical card instead of two.
