How

How can I find out whether my hard drive is SATA 3.0 vs SATA 1.5?? The hard drive in question came with my Dell XPS 420(I know, Dell sucks, don't flame me for getting one, I got it extremely cheap from a friend). All I know is that it's a Samsung, 320 GBs, and 7200 RPM. I know my motherboard supports the new SATA, I just don't know if my hard drive uses it...Thanks.

Oh, I got it last December if that helps.

have you tried taking out the hard drive and looking up the model numger for the hard drive. or just searching detailed specs on that dell model?

Didn't try the first one, too lazy lol.

And yes I did, and it said SATA2 on the mobo specs, but didnt mention it on the hd specs.

are you worried about the drive being too slow. from what ive read that model has 2 320gb drives in raid0, but thats the higher end models so idk what you have.

I just have 1 320 GB hard drive. No raid for me. I don't notice it being slow, but if it is the old SATA, I'm going to get a new one, because hard drives are pretty cheap.
