How to setup a webcam to record without the person knowing?

Ok me and other people in my sisters house have been having money go missing, and we don't know who is taking it,so what i want to do is take a old webcam i found i had(http://www.amazon.com/Micro-Innovations-Webcam-Basic-IC50C/dp/B00006B78F) and set my wallet on my desk with money sticking out,and then have the webcam recording to see who took it,but i also want to make it to where if that person gets on my pc they will not know that it is recording.

Can i do that and if so how?

Get a webcam, put it on monitor, get a piece of colored tape and stick over any light on the webcam, keep in mind, the tape has to be an identical color to not be suspicious. Thats all I got.

I would say try to keep the webcam and computer in separate rooms, if at all possible. Not going to lie, I was kind of creeped out by the title. Though you were going to be using it for dirtier intentions :P

yeah, obviously make sure there's no blinking lights or anything

if you need a program open for the recording (that you cant minimize to the tray, also i don't know how to hide it in the tray), connect a second monitor, go to taskbar proporties > multiple displays > show taskbar buttons on: "taskbar were window is open", drag window to second monitor, disconect monitor, only garrentied to work untill for 1 sesion until pc is restarted

Or just put on a password and lock your PS. (Windows key+L) It will still record in the background, and no one will be able to get onto your PC.

I also reccoment webcam companion 4, for the software. has a "Monitoring" mode. Only record when there is movement. Saves tons of HDD space.

5 year necro. Noice!
