I would reccommend this option. Seriously, $40 is so cheap for what you are getting. You can't even feed two adults at a decent restaurant for $40 anymore.
If you're a student you could check to see if your school program is affiliated with Microsoft Dreamspark. Being a computer science student I can get Windows XP, 7, and 8 in the Professional flavours for free.
If you aren't so fortunate, Daz's Loader. That is all. As mentioned before, google is your friend.

personally, i would just buy the full copy, it is illegal to get it free. I you are cheap ass just get ubuntu, steam is on there and you can play a decent amount of games or mint for a basic system.
If your parents or friend have a Windows 7 laptop or desktop with the sticker, grab that code. This wont affect their windows 7 experience.

If you can't afford windows right now I would recommend installing Ubuntu. Alternatively, you could install windows with one of the legit ISOs from my digital life and then using this: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-7/extend-the-windows-7-trial-from-30-to-120-days/ To reset the trial for a couple of months until you can save up and buy a copy.
This isn't a bad idea. If you do this and it rejects your code, just use the option to verify by phone and it will give you a code to type in.
Well you can obtain a legit ISO of windows 7 on MyDigitalLife since TS doesn't have it. As for the registration key, you would need to buy it, otherwise use other methods. To make a loadable Win7 USB manually, I have used this blog to do so: http://www.johnpapa.net/BootFromUSB

Don't be fooled by the 180 day trial (6 months). All you have to do is run 'slmgr.vbs -rearm' and restart windows every 6 months and you have it running for up to 3 years without reinstall (rearm limit is at 5 times). I have been using it for 5 years (with a few reinstalls, all because of hardware upgrades).

I got MSDNAA so I got 4 versions of W7 and W8 for freeeeeeeee.
ISOs work as a sort of virtual disk. you can mount them into your system ( i use virtual clone drive) and your computer sees them as disks in a disk drive. I keep all my old games (HL, star wars BF2, ect) mounted in my laptop (with one disk drive) and now I dont have to carry the disks with me.
now, I think you can get a WIN7 ISO from MS and you can convert it into a USB installer( I use unetbootin). Then, when thats done, you can plug the USB into the computer,go into the BIOS, pick "boot from USB" (or something along those lines). This will boot the WIN7 ( or any other OS) from the usb.
