How to find the cause of a crash in system log?

My computer keeps black screening for some reason, and I need a way to find out why. Computer isn't overheating, it only happens when I'm performing simple tasks such as browsing the internet and doing school work, however it seems to function properly when I'm pushing it to it's limits gaming. Everything just go black, sometimes white and is unresponsive. I have to hold the power button to shut it down. I've even reinstalled windows, updates drivers and cleaned it out to make sure it's not overheating. I'm assuming I could find that information in the system log, but how do I do that? Or is there another way to find that information?

Specs:

Hp Pavilion P6607c (specs: http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/kb/docDisplay/?spf_p.tpst=kbDocDisplay&spf_p.prp_kbDocDisplay=wsrp-navigationalState%3DdocId%253Demr_na-c02493378-17%257CdocLocale%253D%257CcalledBy%253D&javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken)

Only things I've added are a 500 watt corsair psu and a Radeon HD 5670.

If the computer is not blue screening, I doubt you will find anything bar a error saying that system power was lost unexpectedly. As when a blue screen occurs it dumps the memory and creates an error log for it.

To get to system logs, either within explorer or the start menu, right click "computer" and select "manage" (it may ask if you are sure you want to do whatever). On the left in the tree view you shall see "Event Viewer" Under which will be "Windows Logs". You may find what you need in there.

From what you have said that this persists after re-installing windows, is that this is a hardware issue. Most likely it could be the memory, so trouble shoot that first.

Is your PC going into sleep/hibernate mode at all when this happens?
