How to delete a Linode VPS Backup?

This is probably a really dumb question, but how the heck do I delete a backup in Linode? I took one before a major upgrade I did to Ghost, the software that hosts my blog, and I’ve never figured it out

It doesn’t look like it costs me anything to have another snapshot, but I no longer need that. Any ideas?

Following as I’ve wondered this as well!

I’ve opened a ticket with them, lets see what they say. Seems odd there is no way to just delete it

Well here is the answer, you just leave it there

Hello there,

The backups which are saved from our Backup Service are not able to be deleted by you from the Cloud Manager. The manual snapshot backup is intended to be stored indefinitely until a new manual snapshot is taken and the old snapshot is overwritten. There is no cost associated with having a manual snapshot stored, the cost of the Backups Service for your Linode covers this manual snapshot regardless of if there is a backup stored or not. Meaning, if there was a way for you to delete it, there would be no cost reduction in the Backup Service. You can just leave that snapshot backup as is, and whenever you need to take a new manual snapshot it will be overwritten.

I hope this information is helpful for you. If you have any additional questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach back out to us at any time.

Regards,
