How to cover motherboard rear ports?

I've been trying to find a good way to cover up that shiny silver from my motherboard's rear ports. It seems like it's too much to ask to get one in different colors. It really throws off the color coordination in a big windowed case.

I've tried painting it and it came out pretty good but then I missed the bottom and got primer on the board and it came out like a mess. It was too small of a clearance to really get in there.

I then thought about 3D printing a shroud but the measurements are too tight. The PCIe slot is right up against the ports and theirs capacitors right near it as well so it would make it impossible to wrap it that way too.

I'm trying to rack my brain for ideas. I've seen people wrap it in carbon fiber? Does it come with an adhesive or something? Would like try to do something similar in a gold.

Thanks!

I am not sure entirely what you are trying to do but you can buy sheets of adhesive carbon fiber look or gold look material. Basically plastic lamination stuff that is coloured what ever you want. People wrap cars in the stuff so it should not be too hard to find.

Basically, I'm just trying to cover the rear ports because their default color is ugly.

  • proper paint job - sand back, primer, paint, wait, light sand, paint, wait, clear coat.
  • adhesive eg a long black (or colour of choice) sticker, trace cutouts, cut out bits and stick to io shield neatly. I did this to a mates awhile back and it turned out ok.

Are you talking about the metal around actual ports, or the io plate thing?

Will try doing this with some adhesive vinyl. Ahould look good if it sticks.
