How to check initramfs status?

The configuration files i edited just disappeared. How does that work? How can i check the current config?

How can i save/restore settings if the configuration files just “dissolve” when applied? What’s the usual process to do this?

Or: which files dissolve? All in the folder? Are there naming conventiosn for templates that don’t disappear? Which files are applied?

Usually most config files will say in the heading “Do not edit this file. If you want to make changes, edit file and the run .”

The question that you are asking is quite vague. Sure it is in relation to the initramfs but some systems do it differently (like ArchLinux).

What OS?
What file did you edit?
What are you trying to do?

Os: Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS

Files i edited and stuff i added:

What iam trying:
pass one of the cards through to a VM.
Attempts so far tried the nvidia card. but i start to think it would probably be smarter to do the AMD one. Less devices + official support

Also none of the files had a comment or header like that.

Also since i kept track like that noen disappeared aynmore, so iassume i missed a critical point of applying the changes or something. Ore maybe an updatet deleted them, i have been on this for quite some time now.
