So I have a GTX 970 with the latest Nvidia driver 440.59 installed on Manjaro. My issue is that my GPU fan never drops below 1500rpm regardless of GPU temperature. In Windows my GPU fan will drop much lower by default and it’s kinda too loud for my liking. I tried to set the nvidia coolbits option so I could have control over the fan speed and stuff like that but so far I haven’t been able to get it working. All over the internet I see posts about the location of the .conf file and stuff but none of the posts were any help. I’m not sure what I need to change as even the official archwiki didn’t have any info that seemed useful. From what I can tell coolbits only seems to work on fermi cards and older however posts online seem to say setting it to 16 will work for newer cards.
Anyone got any ideas?
