I'm considering something along the lines of the Corsair h100 or h100i, but I'm worried about leaks or something. How reliable is water cooling as far as integrity and longevity? Are leaks common?
It is reccomended that you are expirienced on the subject because of common problems such as,
Mis-Cut Tubes causing release of the tube squirting the coolant all over the case.
So if you will go through with it i reccomend changing tubes every maybe 1.5 years and renew your coolant.
Radiators can burst, but it is pretty uncommon.
He's going for CLC, not real watercooling ;D
OH sorry i'ts pretty safe almost impossible to find a incident where any of the things we mentioned happens.
Only thing i remember is pump noise and if it happens to you just return it!
Well i know corsair has a 5year warranty on there closed loop coolers these day thay only realy leak if you do something silly like slip a screwdriver in to the rad or nick the rubber pipeing installing it.
Its very rare for the new closed loop coolers to leak
Leaks due to improper loop assembly, busting a rad and not realizing it, running a pump dry and killing it, using bad fittings or barbs and having the pipe/tube fall off or break, using bad tubing and having it snap, break, kink, etc.
Lots of stuff can happen, but with CLCs, compared to real watercooling, none of that is much of a problem.
Thanks guys, I think I'm going to go with it!
