I've Recently upgraded a Older system (Socket LGA775) with a Core 2 Quad Q6600 that ive overclocked from stock 2.4 up to 3ghz. Im thinking I would like to throw a decent AMD graphics card in the system but I'm not sure how powerfull of a card I can get without bottlenecking the system due to the older Processor. Since it is older I would like to keep the price of the card modest, 150 or less I guess.

the C2Q 6600 is still pretty decent
7850 is probly a little bit out of my price range, But if it can still handle a card like that, I guess I don't really have anything to worry about with cards that are in the low 100 dollar bracket then.

The 7790 comes out next month. Don't know what it'll cost though.
+1 7770, it should not bottleneck if you put a decent overclock on your q6600. Just get a evo 212 and crank it up to 3ghz minimum. But you can also hit 3.5 ghz on your q6600 easy if you have the GO stepping version.
Mine is the G0 Revision But my Mobo isnt the best for overclocking. Ive got it stable at 3ghz though already. Put a cheap aftermarket Heatsink on it. Never gets over 54c under full load.

that's very creepy sir, On my Q6600 build i had a very very similar mobo, I got it to 3.5ghz. but it took me like 1 week of tweaking and stuff. So you should be able to if you have the time or really find that you need a higher oc.
Yea its a Cheap oldie, but it still works and can push it to 3ghz well enough. Socket 775 isnt worth tracking down a better mobo for. its just a old rig im wanting to breathe some more life into.
Unless someone here on the forums has a Nice lga775 board they dont mind parting with :D lol
Either a 7770( last time I checked, it was cheaper than $150), or a 7850( either 1GB or 2GB, depending on the price)
