Hello all.
I have decided to purchase a new GPU and am going for an asus HD 7970 direct cu II along with an AMD FX 8520 and a cpu water cooler. In the future when I have more money I intend to buy a second GPU. the second one will be the exact same one.
the question I am asking how big a power supply would I need for the dual GPU setup and are there any available for under £100 and if not what would would you reccommend?
850 seems a bit close, if he plans on oc'ing everything. I would recommend 1000w or higher, just to be safe.
700-750W is actually sufficient for dual high-end cards inside a fully overclocked system. It would still leave a little headroom.
You could use a 650W if it was a recommended supply with a good level of efficiency.
I definitely recommend XFX supplies, as posted above.
Whatever PSU you decide to buy, make sure it has a single 12v rail.
650W is way more than enough.
I think, because there is only going to be minor overclocking I will go for the XFX 850W just so that I have extra just in case
that XFX 850W is totaly fine.
If you are overclocking, 650W will still be enough.
