How many volts/amps is USB-C PD?

I am trying to set my truck up for overlanding. I have a LiFEPO4 battery, and I’d like to add a port that will let me charge my laptop via USB-C. The laptop charges at 65W + watts.

What I don’t understand is how many volts USB-C PD should be. Looking at my laptop’s power adapter, the output is listed as 3/5/12/20V (with the respective amperatures to get to 65 watts).

So, to roll my own USB-C PD, what voltage do I need to be at coming off of the converter?

The voltage is negotiated so you need an adapter. If your LiFEPO4 battery is 4S or you have a 12v converter then you can just use a standard power port adapter.

I’d get something that supports more than your laptop requires. When these things run at their limit they can get pretty hot.

Nice catch on the adapter output, oguruma! For 65W with USB-C PD, 20V is the way to go. Bonus points for mobile laptop charging!
