How good are AMD APUs for gaming?

Specifically the A10... people rave about these AMD Apus for budget builds but are they really that good?

well, put it this way. i bought a laptop for programming. it was on newegg for 500 dollars. specs are as follows:

AMD A6-3420M (1.5 ghz quad core. 2.4ghz turbo) (6520g video card built in)

dedicated 6650m video card

6gb ram

shitty hdd.

anyway, it plays skyrim on high at 1366x768 and gets 40-55 fps outside and 50-60 inside. plays borderlands, call of duty, tf2, css, all fine.

the A10 is amazing, especialyy if you upgrade later and get a dedicated card to xfire with it. just know that you need to get fast ram.

also, upon furthur research....

the A10 5800k gets a higher passmark score than an AMD phenom II X4 980 (which is a 3.7ghz quad core)... so yes, its very very good. lol

Well, think about it, the APU's have an intergrated radeon graphics. the A10 5800k has a built in HD 7660. way better than the weak intergrated graphics you've seen

and it's $129!

the A10-6800K coming in a few months will have a integrated 7770, and Kaveri isnt too far away

The A10-5800k is an awesome APU for the money! But you should wait for the next gen.
