How fast do I want my SSD to be?

Hey guys

I'm thinking about different SSD options and this is what I found

Slow SSD = 300mb r/w

Fast SSD = 500mb r/w

PCI-E SSD = 1000mb r/w

yea I know there are other options, but just in general, we all looking for a disk that will not be the bottleneck of our system, so how fast do we really need it to be? Would I notice any difference when I'm rendering vids in Premiere and After Effects? If we not talking about some server thing, just a normal enthusiast at home doing basic video rendering and photoshop. As you can see I'm more focusing on real life performance, not benchmarks. What kind of situations or applications would really benefit of the +500 r/w speeds?

have a nice weekend u all

500mb r/w is the sweet spot

For the likes of After Effects and Photoshop it is up and down. Up in that the program will load instantly and be very fast, all the menus will be super snappy and it will work fast as a program all round, the down comes in that you will not want your projects saved on the SSD as they will be big. But the ups far out weight the down. Once a project is loaded it is loaded and cached for the most part.

In general you just want your OS and applications on the SSD, your games if you have them on a fast HDD and projects, music movies on a storage drive.

thnx!
