How does the 2014 Razer BlackWidow feel?

Hey forum.

I've made my rig for almost a year now so it's time for me to celebrate by getting my very first mechanical keyboard and I'm in a bit of a pickle regarding how the different type of switches would actually feel and what would be the best ones for me. Keep in mind I have only touched a mechanical keyboard once or twice but I instantly fell in love with the feel. I use my PC primarily for gaming and browsing with the occasional Office or Adobe application. I checked out Logans video on the different types of switches and got the basics but I could really use some advice here. Also I think I want the switches to be silent, although I have not made my mind yet.

I'm looking at the new Razer BlackWidow Chroma which is 180 Euros. Call me a sucker for Razer gear, they really got me with the pretty colors and the customisable gaming profiles but I'm concerned with their change to Chinese switches.

Has anyone bought the 2014 BlackWIdow? If yes, did you have any sort of problem with it?

I'm willing to go for other keyboards even if they are not that shiny, but I would like them to be backlit. Keep in mind that I live in Romania and our keyboard selection is not great at all, so try to recommend only stuff from major manufacturers or stuff you could find on Amazon.co.uk, I would prefer to buy locally though so I can also get a valid warranty.

Thanks for the help.

you should also look at the logitech g710+

Well its China, they know how to copy. They are literally the same feel as cherry, well because they are cherry, with a new name. Cherry's patent on their switches expired so pretty much companies jumped on the opportunity to get the switch and make it their own. As for how long it will last, can't say much. I'm sure its going to work just fine, but there are plenty of other keyboards, if your eyes are set on it though, you won't be to disappointed.

If you have 180 euros to spend and want something Razer, get the DeathStalker Ultimate. You can get it for that price on ebay with international shipping. The UI and customization on it exceeds the Blackwidow. I only say this because you have little experience on a mechanical, while mechanical's are better, the chiclet style won't hamper you any and the added touchpad + custom skins you can create for each game and easily switch through them will actually give you benefits over a mechanical.

If you are deadset on a mechanical, then I'd advise any other brand that uses the cherry patent that you can find for cheap.

I just laid my hands on the Razer RGB last night. I liked them. I really can't tell a difference. But I like a heavy key. So it was not for me.
